Today’s weather: Cloudy and breezy today, sunny and warmer Friday and Saturday
February 7, 2008
A slight dip in the jet stream will bring cloudy skies and gusty southwest winds across the Lake Tahoe area today.
Highs today will rise into the lower to mid 40s and in the mid 30s at the 8,000 foot resort level.
Southwest winds are expected to increase to around 15 to 30 mph at lake level in the afternoon with gusts to 70 mph along the Sierra crest.
Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the lower teens at lake level while remaining in the 20s at the upper elevations as a strong inversion develops in this stable airmass.
High pressure will strengthen along the west coast on Friday and Saturday pushing the jet stream or storm track well north into Canada. Look for mostly sunny skies, light winds and above normal daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 40s around the lake during this period. Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.
