Today’s weather: Warm and dry before advance of storms

High pressure remains firmly in control today and Wednesday with light winds and dry conditions expected.

After another frosty morning look for high temperatures to rise into the lower to mid 40s around the lake this afternoon under mostly sunny skies and light winds.

Middle and high level clouds are forecast to increase tonight into Wednesday in advance of a series of strong storms headed our way beginning Thursday.

Clouds will keep low temperatures in the teens tonight but will have little affect on daytime temperatures Wednesday with highs projected to reach the mid 40s.

Forecast models are still on track bringing a series of three wet storm systems into the Tahoe area from Thursday into Sunday. Current estimates on snow accumulations from these three storms range from 5 to 8 feet above 7,000 feet to around 1 to 3 feet at Lake level by Sunday night.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service at weather.gov for the latest statements and warnings on this major winter storm event.
