Town plans trails workshops this month

Staff Reports

Work continues on the Truckee Trails and Bikeways Master Plan, and the town will be conducting public workshops during November to solicit comments from neighborhood residents on the draft plan.

Meetings are planned at the following locations:

– Truckee-Donner Public Utility District boardroom, Nov. 9, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

– Tahoe Donner, Northwoods Clubhouse, Nov. 16, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

– Truckee Sanitary District boardroom, Nov. 17, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

– Glenshire, Glenshire Clubhouse, Nov. 18, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The community-based planning effort aims to promote the development of a local multiple use trail and bikeway system to increase recreational, alternative transportation and educational opportunities for the benefit of local residents and visitors to the Truckee area.

The system of trails would link all parts of Truckee.

The workshops will address the following questions:

– Have adequate connections been planned to link the community and the region?

– Does the draft planned system satisfy the recreational, transportation and educational goals of the community?

– Does the draft plan reflect your vision of a local trail and bikeway system?

The town encourages all interested residents to attend the workshops and provide feedback on the plan. For information, contact Gavin Ball at the Town of Truckee, (530) 582-7876.
