Town to address road plan
The Truckee Town Council may adopt the Downtown Road Re-alignment and Streetscape Corridor Project plans at its Jan. 16 meeting.
The plan ensures, as redevelopment and development occur downtown, that room for sidewalk amenities and parking will be available. Adoption of the plan will ensure that all downtown areas that are developed will be using the same plan, the staff report reads.
Three public workshops for the streetscape project were held last year, and public input was sought regarding sidewalks, bike paths, parking and street widths.
The council will also decide if it wants to begin a process to pursue sponsorship of tax-exempt bond financing for Northstar-at-Tahoe’s employee housing project.
East West Partners and Northstar first approached Placer County for sponsorship, but Placer County determined that they could not participate. In the fall of 2001, Truckee decided to look into the legality of sponsoring the project.
The town council meets tonight at 6 p.m. at the council chambers on Truckee Airport Road.
