TRUCKEE, Calif. — Eastbound Interstate 80 lanes at Overland Trail Road are open after a multi-vehicle accident early Friday morning injured three people, officials said.

Michele A. Perysian, 51, of Twin Lake, Mich., was driving a Kenworth tractor-trailer at around 3:20 a.m. at 55 mph when the front of the vehicle collided with the left rear and side of a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Oldsmobile, driven by Sacramento resident Lawrence S. Yoakum, 44, was pushing a 1994 Jaguar that was having mechanical issues, going approximately 20 mph.

Perysian couldn’t maintain control of the tractor-trailer, and it overturned, blocking eastbound traffic lanes. It leaked diesel fuel into a drainage ditch, which was cleaned and mitigated by Caltrans, according to CHP. Its load of produce also spilled.

Perysian wasn’t hurt. Her passenger, Joe L. Perysian, 49, also of Twin Lake, had head pain and was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee

Yoakum, whose Oldsmobile came to a stop on the right shoulder after hitting the Jaguar, suffered lacerations to the head, left arm and hand. He was flown to Renown Hospital in Reno by Careflight. Passenger Danielle Yoakum, 42, of Sacramento, complained of chest pain and was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital.

Dewayne J. Jermond, 24, driver of the Jaguar, and passenger Shelby A. Yoakum, 18, of Sacramento, suffered no injuries.

Both I-80 eastbound lanes opened at about 7:39 a.m. As of about 11 a.m., the eastbound Overland Trail Road offramp was closed due to cleanup.

CHP is investigating the accident.
