Transportation to the Town Portrait

With the entire community expected to attend the Truckee Town Portrait 2000 on Sunday, Sept. 17, driving, let along parking, is not an option.To solve transportation and parking problems the Truckee Town Portrait Committee is sponsoring buses for a Park and Ride program to run every 15 minutes to and from the event.Transit Management Authority (TMA) and Unified School District Busses will service 15 park and ride destinations around town. Busses will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and then again at 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.”The bus drivers want to be in the picture too,” Mayor Maia Schneider said, “and I imagine that the buses around the time of the portrait will be pretty full too.”Park and Ride stations are at the following locations:Glenshire15 – Glenshire Clubhouse14 – Glenshire Store16 – Glenshire Elementary SchoolDonner Lake3 – Donner State Park2 – Donner Lake Store1 – West End BeachDowntown5 – Truckee High School4 – Truckee Elementary SchoolSierra Meadows13 – Best Western12 – McIver Rodeo ArenaTahoe Donner6 – Northwoods Clubhouse8 – Tahoe Donner Ski Bowl7 – Trout Creek CenterProsser Area10 – Alder Creek & Highway 8917 – Across from Coachland11 – Rainbow Drive & Highway 89aIf you live near a major road, the buses will stop and pick up stray passengers.Fore more information contact Mayor Schneider at 587-4982
