Truck fire shuts down I-80 near Reno

RENO, Nev. ” The Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver of big-rig was cited for failing to use due care after his truck crashed into a guard rail on Interstate 80 and caught fire.

Investigator says 38-year-old Darrell E. Brown of Sacramento may have nodded off behind the wheel.

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday near Mogul in the eastbound lanes. Traffic was diverted around the site.

The NHP says the truck was hauling grocery items. Brown was not injured but the truck and contents were a total loss.
