TRUCKEE, Calif. — Throughout the holiday season, discover opportunities to meet two of Truckee’s distinguished artists up close and in person, and discuss how they make their unique works in clay and wood.

Visiting a working studio offers insight to the creative process and provides a different experience.

Barbara Glynn Prodaniuk, porcelain and stoneware artist and Tom Beebe, fine wood craftsman, will have works for sale as they welcome guests to their studies who also just want to hang out and learn about their creative processes.

BARBARA GLYNN PRODANIUK PORCELAIN AND STONEWARE

Open studio on Nov. 22, 23 and 24; and Dec. 6, 7, and 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Unique ceramic sculptures and functional pottery use wheel thrown and slab construction techniques. Sculptural pieces are fired at a variety of temperatures and may include some mixed media elements. These elements are chosen with care to make the piece resonate with a shared cultural experience and often make people laugh. Porcelain and white stoneware are the clay bodies used and pieces are made in a traditional manner with a bit of a creative twist.

Studio located at 15576 Waterloo Circle, Truckee.

A licensed contractor in both California and Nevada, specializing in interior woodwork, he has trained with some of the world’s finest craftsmen in marquetry, inlay, veneering, and gilding techniques. Be sure to ask about woodworking and craft classes in 2014.
