Truckee baseball: Wolverines headed to state title series after toppling Spring Creek

RENO, Nev. and#8212; The Truckee High School baseball team is headed to the state championship after a 15-5 drubbing of Spring Creek in the Nevada 3A state semifinal series Friday night at Wooster High School.

Truckee plays Virgin Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday at Aces Ballpark in Reno. Since the semifinals and finals follow a double elimination format, Truckee must win the 1 p.m. game for a shot a rematch in the afternoon against Virgin Valley to clinch a state title.

Earlier Friday, Truckee lost 14-11 to Virgin Valley. The loss snapped the Wolverines’ 17-game win streak. The Wolverines beat Spring Creek on Thursday, 6-5.
