Truckee Book Lovers Unite

Do you remember the feeling of walking into a library, maybe as a child, maybe as an adult and realizing all of the books there were yours for the borrowing? Free? Now picture your Truckee library, and visualize all it could be: cozy reading spaces and room for great events and programs. This vision could be a reality ” with your help!

Right now the Truckee Library has a very small staff that is stretched thin just providing core services. Our local Friends of the Library group is active, but needs help. “A committee of the Friends was recently inspired by the support and energy of two long-time community leaders, Kim Bradley and Phebe Bell,” said Friends of the Truckee Library co-chair, Ruth Hall. “Their involvement has taken us to a new level of energizing an expanded and diversified base of support for the Truckee Library.” Join the Friends on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Sierra Mountain Community Education Center building (the old middle school on Donner Pass Road) for a facilitated brainstorming session and discussion about the public library. Babysitting will be available and refreshments will be served. For more information call the Library at 582-7846.
