After starting the Northern 3A regional tournament with a 65-59 win over Yerington, Truckee’s boys were eliminated from the postseason with a 62-44 loss to Incline on Friday and a 70-61 loss to Dayton on Saturday.
Senior Pat Galvin led the fifth-seeded Wolverines past Yerington, a No. 4 seed, with 21 points, while senior Cody Wicks had 14, Kevin Wood 11 and Ryan Roberts 10.
The game was tightly contested throughout, as Truckee took a 12-10 lead after one quarter and a 28-27 lead into the half.
The Lions outscored the Wolverines 14-10 in the third quarter before Truckee stormed back in the fourth with 25 points to Yerington’s 18 to seal the win.
After Truckee won both regular-season contests against Incline, the Highlanders got their revenge behind a game-high 18 points from sophomore Josh Dykstra.
Incline won every quarter, leading 12-9 at the end of the first, 33-23 at the half and 44-32 after three quarters of play.
Roberts led the way for Truckee with 24 points.
Playing for a third-place finish in regionals and a berth in the state tournament, Truckee came up on the short end of a well-played and competitive contest against second-seeded Dayton, which Truckee split with during the regular season.
The Wolverines dug themselves a 19-10 hole by the end of the first quarter and never recovered, despite matching the Dust Devils point for point the rest of the way.
Galvin led Truckee with 25 points, and Wicks scored 12.
Richard Anderson, who has represented Truckee and eastern Nevada County’s District 5 since first being elected in 2012, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020.
