Truckee Community Christmas seeks volunteers

The Truckee Community Christmas program is putting out their last call for donated food, warm coats, toys and contributions.

Donated items will be collected this week from locations all over Truckee which include Save Mart and Safeway for food items, various participating businesses, schools, real estate offices and fire houses for toys, and Church of the Mountains located on Church St. in downtown Truckee for gently used coats.

These needed items will be brought to the Sierra Mountain Community Education Center on Donner Pass Road where sorting and wrapping will commence Thurs., Dec. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. and on Fri., Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. until the job is finished. Volunteers interested in helping with this effort may simply show up during these hours or call Alissa Just for more information at 587-6681.

Monetary contributions are also welcome. Please make checks payable to Truckee Community Christmas and mail to P.O. Box 2955, Truckee, CA 96160. Cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards for program recipients. All donations are tax deductible. For general information about any component of Truckee Community Christmas, call the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce at 587-2757.
