Truckee Community Christmas, volunteer – Tahoe Lake Preschool enrolling – Tahoe Maritime ornaments
Truckee Community Christmas is busy coordinating the collection of food, toys and coats for local needy families, individuals and seniors. This year, more than 150 families have been identified. Additional applications from agencies and schools continue to be received and considered.
Volunteers are needed to staff the food collections barrels and hand out suggested food lists at Safeway and Save Mart. Please contact Lynn Richardson at 582-2422 to be added to the schedule.
Additionally, volunteers are needed to help sort and wrap donated items at Sierra Mountain Community Education Center on Donner Pass Road in Truckee on Dec. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. and Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. until the job is finished. Volunteers can simply show up or call Alissa Just at (530) 587-6681.
Monetary contributions are also welcome. Please make checks payable to Truckee Community Christmas and mail to P.O. Box 2955, Truckee, CA 96160. Cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards, toys and food for program recipients. All donations are tax deductible. For information call the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce at 587-2757.
Tahoe Lake Preschool, on site at Tahoe Lake Elementary School, is accepting 3 and 4-year-olds for an extended 61/2 hour preschool operated during the school year Monday through Friday. Full- and half-day available. Emphasis on kindergarten readiness and hands-on experiential learning. State subsidies available for families that meet income guidelines. Fee based spaces available.
