Truckee Council picks new mayor
Sierra Sun
Barbara Green was selected as the new mayor of Truckee Dec. 6 as part of the yearly rotation of council members.
“It’s simply somebody’s turn,” Green said in an interview Wednesday. “It’s not much different than being a council member, except you lead the meetings.”
Green said she isn’t new to leading a public board, however, with about seven or eight years heading different boards, including the Nevada County Board of Supervisors.
That experience comes from about 25 years in public service from Bay area environmental and open space groups, to the Truckee Donner Land Trust and the Truckee Planning Commission up here.
“There will be so many challenges this year ” there are so many development proposals on the table along with the development code update,” Green said. “It’s so important to look at the future and the town’s character.”
