Truckee Donner PUD adopts Speak Your Peace initiative

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Donner Public Utility District has adopted the region-wide Speak Your Peace campaign.

After deciding to agendize the Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation program for civil discourse in October, the board approved the standards on Nov. 4 in a 4-1 vote.

and#8220;I think we operate very closely to this and I donand#8217;t believe we need a reminder, but itand#8217;s a good reference document,and#8221; said Board President Ron Hemig. and#8220;Itand#8217;s part of what we do.and#8221;

Hemig said the nine principles could be printed on the back of a page in a meeting agenda, where it could be referenced if needed. He also suggested the board revisit Speak Your Peace yearly, to make sure itand#8217;s something the board still wants to uphold.

Board member Pat Sutton voted against Speak Your Peace; she had voiced concern when the campaign was introduced in October.

and#8220;I think this is somewhat dampening opinion for people to address us,and#8221; Sutton said at the October meeting.
