Truckee football rushes past Piedmont

The Truckee High football team improved to 2-1 with a 15-7 non-league win at Piedmont on Friday.

Ryan Macken, a junior fullback and linebacker, punched the ball in to the end zone from six yards out in the second quarter for Truckee’s first touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, leaving the score at 6-0.

Junior wingback and defensive back Ryan Roberts scored on a 6-yard run in the third quarter, and Cruz Esquivel booted a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final score of the game.

Piedmont (0-2) scored its only touchdown on an 11-yard pass from Jeremy George to Ryan Lipkin.

Truckee did most of its damage on the ground, rushing for 331 on 56 carries while gaining just 30 yards through the air.

Roberts led the way with 126 yards on 13 carries. Junior Justin Vosburgh gained 67 yards on six rushes and junior Robert Raber picked up 65 yards on 10 touches. Macken finished with 46 yards on eight carries.

Truckee plays its final non-league game at Winters (Calif.) on Friday at 7 p.m.
