Truckee golf wins again; Lakers place sixth

The Truckee High golf team took first place in a cold and windy Spring Creek Tournament this past Friday.

The win marked the fourth of the season for the Wolverines, who also have two second-place finished and one third.

North Tahoe also competed, placing sixth among the 3A and 2A schools.



Truckee won with a score of 407, while the Lakers posted a 453 between their top five placing golfers. Complete results were not printed.

Individually for North Tahoe, freshmen Travis Boerner and Craig Munro led the team by posting an 88 in the tough conditions. Connor Whaley shot a 90, Alex Griffith 93 and Kevin Scardigli 94.



Junior Daniel Gelso led the Wolverines with a 76. He was followed by teammates Bryce Poulin (81), Ethan Harman and Matt Hardy (83) and Will Collin (84).

Two tournaments remain. North Tahoe hosts at Edgewood on Friday and Truckee hosts at Old Greenwood on May 8.

Both the 3A and 2A state championships will be held May 12-13.
