Truckee grant theft hearing postponed

The conference hearing on the felony grand theft case against a former partner of Truckee-based Vacation Property Management was scheduled for Tuesday, but has been postponed while negotiations continue.

Lori Koester and her former business partner, Dean A. Clark, were expected to be arraigned in February on 46 counts of felony grand theft, but vanished until April when Koester surrendered herself to the Nevada County Superior Court.

Despite Koester’s appearance, Clark’s whereabouts are still unknown at this time, according to Nevada County Deputy District Attorney Bill Cornell.

In May 2007, Truckee property owners and ski lease tenants complained about the company’s business practices saying the rental firm had not paid them for rental fees or security deposits.

The combined losses totaled approximately $100,000, and Koester pleaded not guilty to the 46 counts of felony grand theft in April.

She is set to appear in court again for the pretrial felony hearing on Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m., Cornell said.
