Truckee in running for Navtive Eyewear Project
TRUCKEE, Calif. — Truckee has been selected to compete against other mountain towns in the 2013 Native Eyewear Locals Only Project. The Native Eyewear team has been scouting locations to find the best mountain town and have included Truckee.
Truckee will be competing against Cody, Wyo., Taos, N.M., Flagstaff, Ariz. and Brevard, N.C. Voting on Native Eyewear’s Facebook page continues until June 21. Truckee’s loyal fans and locals can vote once a day.
The Locals Only Project is a fan-driven social media contest that seeks to find the best mountain town, the best local talent and the best local adventures — all through fan nominations and social media votes. The winning town will play host to the Native Eyewear marketing team as they develop their 2014 marketing campaign. They will work with the locals to curate stories about the community. These stories will become the content for the 2014 catalog and branding materials, as they truly embody the Native Eyewear brand of adventure, outdoors and the mountain lifestyle.
Native Eyewear will also use all local models and photographers. Boulder, Colo., Hood River, Ore. and Whitefish, Mont., have served locations for the Local’s Only Project in the past.
“We are so excited to be one of the mountain towns in the Native Eyewear Locals Only Project,” said Lynn Saunders, president/CEO Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce. “We love the whole concept of working with locals to capture the spirit of a community. Truckee is full of amazingly diverse adventure-seeking individuals that create our unique and authentic Truckee culture.”
A video edit highlighting Truckee will be posted on Native Eyewear’s Facebook page for people to view during the voting process. Visit Native Eyewear at facebook.com/NativeEyewear. Fans can vote once per day through 5 p.m. on June 21. A vote for Truckee is a vote for the entire Truckee-Tahoe region.
Truckee is located just 40 miles from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, two hours from Sacramento, and three hours from San Francisco with easy access off of Interstate 80. Contact the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce at 530-587-2757 or visit http://www.truckee.com for more information.
