Truckee man arrested for allegedly committing sex crime

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; A Truckee man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of committing a sex crime involving a minor, a Placer County Sheriffand#8217;s Office official said this week.

Brad Edward Steinhoff, 37, a resident of the Placer County side of Truckee, has been charged with one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent of sex, said PCSO Sgt. John Giovannini.

Giovannini did not release details regarding the case as the investigation is ongoing and involves a minor. Other charges are pending, he said.



Giovannini confirmed Steinhoff is currently being held in Placer County Jail in Auburn, with his bail set at $750,000.

and#8220;We believe the activity is isolated to one victim,and#8221; Giovannini said.



Steinhoff was arraigned at Placer County Court in Auburn on Thursday, Oct. 21; however, information regarding his plea and trial date and#8212; as well as a booking photo and#8212; could not be provided by Placer County Superior Court for this story.
