Truckee man arrested in alleged assault

Authorities arrested a Truckee man early Wednesday for allegedly assaulting another man with a knife, Truckee Police reported in a department news release.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. in Tahoe Donner, a 22-year-old Truckee resident flagged down a patrolling officer and reported the altercation.

The suspect, Chad Hooser, 20, allegedly pulled out a knife and held it to the victim’s throat, Truckee Lt. Randy Fenn said in the release.

Officers located Hooser as he was attempting to flee the scene, and took him into custody.

Police did not identify the person reporting the assault.

Hooser was booked into Nevada County Jail in Truckee on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and for driving under the influence. His bail was set at $5,000.

The victim sustained only minor injuries and did not require medical attention, Fenn said.
