Truckee man killed, another injured in paraglider accident

Sun staff reportsA Truckee resident was killed and another seriously injured in a paraglider accident Sunday in the hills near Reno.Britton “Britt” Chambers, 35, died while his 32-year-old, unidentified friend was transported by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center in serious condition after they crashed into a hillside in Cold Springs about 10 miles north of Reno. The injured man’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members.Washoe County Sheriff Dennis Balaam said the two Truckee residents began their paraglider flight from near Slide Mountain southwest of Reno and crashed near Cold Springs.Efforts to revive Chambers failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Washoe County detective division is investigating the incident. Investigators determined that both Chambers and his friend were on the same paraglider.- The Associated Press contributed to this report.
