VERDI, NEV. – A Truckee man was killed early Friday in a motorcycle accident outside of Reno.

Robert Bruce Stokes, 35, was injured after losing control of his motorcycle on Interstate 80 west of Reno and then rolling into the path of two oncoming vehicles.

Stokes was pronounced dead at Washoe Medical Center shortly after the 1 a.m. crash, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Stokes was planning to be involved in events at Reno’s Street Vibrations motorcycle festival in Reno this past weekend, family members said.

Investigators said Stokes was traveling west on I-80 when he lost control of his motorcycle about one mile east of the California state line. He was thrown into the eastbound lanes of the freeway, according to reports. He was then struck by at least two vehicles. Troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
