The Truckee and North Tahoe high girls soccer teams garnered 19 of the 39 Northern 3A All-League selections between the first and second teams and honorable mention.

Truckee senior Lauren O’Neil, a co-team captain who was placed on the first team as a forward, was voted by Northern 3A coaches as the league’s most valuable player. Her coach, Nikki Gerardi, was voted Coach of the Year after leading the Wolverines to their sixth state championship in her first season.

The Wolverines defeated the Lakers 2-1 in the state championship and finished the season 19-0-3 overall. The Lakers were 14-7-2 overall.

For those who watched both teams in action during the season, the fact that the rivals earned more than half the All-League votes comes as no surprise. Like most years, Truckee and North Tahoe were stacked with talent.

Truckee players voted to the All-League first team include Stephanie and Lauren O’Neil, both at forward, Addie Shaffer at halfback and Michelle Delumyea at fullback. Lakers voted to the first team include Michelle Zarick at forward and Chelsea Patrick at halfback.

Making up the second team are Truckee’s Katie Dill and Kelsi Decker at forward, Kaitlin Cocard at halfback and Jordan Tollison at fullback. North Tahoe players include Dani Pranin at halfback, Lexey Dalmau-Jones at fullback and Trinity Vevoda as a goalkeeper.

Earning honorable mention recognition are Truckee’s Katy Stephens at halfback, Kennedy Power at fullback, Michelle Plapp as a goalkeeper and Kelsey Porter as a utility player. Lakers making honorable mention include Sage Clark at forward, Christina Lane at halfback and Carly Leininger at fullback.

Incline’s Shawnee Wood was voted Offensive Player of the Year and Whittell’s Hannah Daily Defensive Player of the Year.
