Truckee police arrest man on suspicion of abusing 3-year-old

Staff reportsPolice arrested a Truckee man on suspicion of child abuse last weekend after a day care center altered police to bruising and injuries on a 3-year-old child at their facility.Truckee police arrested Justin Paul Brown after an investigation that began on Friday afternoon. The suspected abuse had occurred at the child’s home, according to police.After talking with the injured child, the mother and a sibling, police arrested Brown on suspicion of inflicting willful harm to a child. The child’s injuries were on his lower back and buttocks, according to police.Both the injured child and his sibling are in the protective custody of Child Protective Services.Police are keeping additional details of the case confidential because it involves a child.Day care workers – along with teachers, doctors, nurses, law enforcement and clergy – are required to report any instance of suspected child abuse by California law. Failure to report instances of suspected child abuse is a crime.
