Truckee Police: Bear activity on the rise in Glenshire

Staff report

TRUCKEE, Calif. – In the past few days, there has been increased bear activity in the Glenshire area in Eastern Truckee around The Strand and Donnington Lane, Truckee Police officials said in a web release Wednesday, after a bear entered an open garage on Royal Way earlier that day and later broke into a garage on Saxon Way.

“The incidents are believed to be related to the same bear, and any increased vigilance to garbage and unattended food would be greatly appreciated,” officials said in the release.

Residents are encouraged to notify the Truckee Police Department with additional bear sightings or complaints.

“As always, our ultimate goal is to protect life and property while redirecting the bears to their natural habitat,” officials said.
