Truckee Police Department appoints new captain

The Truckee Police Department on Monday announced the appointment of Robert Leftwich to captain.Leftwich andamp;#8212; who was selected from a group of internal candidates andamp;#8212; will lead the Operations Division, which includes patrol, traffic, marine unit, reserve officers and the departmentandamp;#8217;s volunteer program.The Truckee Police Department has two police captains who lead 30 department employees consisting of officers and support staff, according to a press release. The other captain is Harwood Mitchell; both report directly to the Chief Adam McGill.Leftwich is a 16-year police veteran who spent the majority of his career at the Santa Rosa Police Department. He earned his bachelor of arts in public relations from the University of the Pacific.He has extensive experience in investigations and has served as a task force agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration and California Department of Justice.Leftwich lives in Truckee with his wife, Maria, and his 7-year-old son, Parker.
