Truckee Police investigating Glenshire General Store burglary

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Police Department is investigating a recent burglary at Glenshire General Store in which thieves allegedly stole the store’s safe.

Store owner Tina Stull said sometime late in the evening of Jan. 2, 2010, one or more persons allegedly disabled the alarm system and took a safe containing an unidentified amount of cash and cigarettes.

and#8220;They took it right out of the ground and#8212; it was bolted into the ground and wall,and#8221; Stull said.

While Stull didn’t specify the amount of money or goods lost for the purposes of the investigation, she said the damage created by disabling the alarm and removing the vault was extensive.

and#8220;I had to start all over again. I had to buy new registers, a new alarm; they wrecked my phone lines and power and the front door,and#8221; Stull said.

Stull said she is insured, and the business was only closed for one day.

A similar break-in occurred in August of 2008, where subjects disabled the alarm and took money out of cash boxes.

and#8220;People need to be careful,and#8221; Stull said. and#8220;Supposedly there is a rumor that Truckee is easy to rob.and#8221;
