Truckee PUD gives away LED holiday lights

TRUCKEE ” The Truckee Donner Public Utility District is giving away free strands of ultra-efficient LED (light emitting diode) holiday lights in exchange for strands of old energy-wasting incandescent lights.

The program is open to all electric customers of the District. All you need to do is bring in a copy of your utility bill along with up to three strands of old lights, and the TDPUD will replace them with your choice of one 66 ft. or three 20 ft. white or multicolor strands of LED lights.

The TDPUD also has a business accent lighting program in addition to their many other free conservation programs. Through this program, the TDPUD is offering, free of charge, a limited amount of 66-foot LED strands to area businesses. The lights are provided to local businesses to help them decorate their storefronts for the holidays and conserve energy.

For more information about the TDPUD, call (530) 587-3896, or visit http://www.TDPUD.org.
