TRUCKEE, Calif. — Christy Curtis, an award-winning independent agent for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Truckee, has spent her career helping others realize their dream of living and playing in the beautiful Tahoe area.

But just as important to Curtis is helping those less fortunate in the community so they have a chance to realize their dreams, too.

That commitment to giving back to the community is what led Curtis and her team, known as Christy Curtis & Crew, to come up with the idea of making a $100 donation for each property they close to their client’s charity of choice.

It’s part of a new partnership between Curtis and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation and Give Back Tahoe that the Realtor hopes will catch on throughout the community.

“The sense of community that one feels when living in the Truckee-Tahoe area is unsurpassed,” Curtis said. “It is because of the people that give selflessly day-in and day-out that we, too, wish to participate in supporting the wonderful causes that make our local communities so special.”

At close of escrow, Christy Curtis & Crew ask their clients to choose either an “area of focus” or a local foundation where they would like the agents to donate $100 on their behalf.

If clients want their donation to go to a specific foundation, they can visit Give Back Tahoe,, and browse all the categories and specific foundations to give directly.

But Curtis said sometimes it’s hard to pick which nonprofit to support, especially if a client isn’t familiar with the different organizations.

As a result, the Foundation has created “Gifts for Good,” which allows homebuyers and sellers to donate to one of five areas of focus.

Christy Curtis & Crew are located at 17400 Northwoods Blvd. in Truckee and can be reached by calling 530-587-2856. Curtis may also be reached at The group’s website is
