Truckee Sanitary District board appoints Van Gundy
TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; At its Oct. 20 regular meeting, the Truckee Sanitary District Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint long-time Truckee resident Nelson Van Gundy to serve on the board. Van Gundy was selected to fill the vacancy created when Mike Sullivan retired on Sept. 16.
Van Gundy joins incumbents Robert Affeldt (President), Brian Smart (Vice President), Ron Sweet and Jerry Gilmore on the board. Van Gundy will serve until the next general election in November 2012.
Three candidates applied for the vacant position, according to a press release, and all three were interviewed by the board at the Oct. 20 meeting.
Van Gundy has previously held public office in Truckee, having served on the Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board of Directors from 2000-2005. Van Gundy has been a real estate agent/broker in Truckee since 1982, and a member of the Truckee Rotary Club also since 1982.
