The Tahoe City Community and BloodSource invite you to do save lives by giving blood June 10, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Tahoe City Fire Station, 300 N. Lake Blvd. Make a difference to patients in our community who need approximately 700 units of blood and blood components. Free t-shirt to all participants. No appointment necessary.
Have a drink with at Rookies Sports Bar and Grill, Incline Village, Nev. during their Second annual Shots for Shots event June 11, beginning at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the American Red Cross, Northern Nevada Chapter, this event raises money for the Global Measles Initiative. Buy a beverage (shot or special drink) and provide the funds for childhood vaccinations in developing countries around the world. One vaccine costs less than one dollar. The Truckee Neuropathy Support Group meets on Monday, June 15, 10 a.m. at Truckee Pines Apartments, 10100 Estates Dr. Bev Anderson, President, Northern California Chapter of The Neuropathy Association, will lead and speak at the meeting. If your feet or hands tingle, feel numb, burning hot or freezing cold, or like you are wearing a sock or glove when you aren’t or you have sharp stabbing pains, you may have neuropathy. There is a special need for people to serve on the Leadership Team. No need to have neuorpathy to participate. An individual in teaching, nursing or therapy is especially qualified. Meet at the Soda Springs Store at 10:30 a.m. with work gloves, sunscreen and enthusiasm. You will be provided with a region to clean, water, and garbage bags. Come prepared for a great time! The Sierra Stars Square Dance Club of the North Lake Tahoe area and Truckee is holding its annual Flag Day Dance at the Incline Village High School Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Welcome back caller Joe Kula of Sacramento. Dance level will be mainstream with announced plus calls from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Don Swartz of Carson City will be cuing the round dancing starting with pre rounds from 7to 8 p.m. There will be a “split the pot” raffle.
