Truckee TV airs live Nevada County supes meetings
Nevada County Board of Supervisors meetings are now being beamed live into Truckee homes after the broadcast of the first meeting of the year was put on hold because of complications.
Truckee Tahoe Community Television, which broadcasts local programming on channels 6 and 24, will run the meetings live on Channel 24.
The meetings will air the second Tuesday of each month.
“We have been running the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for the last couple years,” said Cristie Bray, executive director of Truckee Tahoe Community Television. “Now we have a live feed.”
The meetings will be re-broadcast on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. and Friday night at 5 p.m., she said.
Channel 24 was launched in December of last year so that the local television provider could air more government meetings, education programming, high school sports and other local material, said Bray.
“What was happening was we had a lot of conflicts,” said Bray of the period when only Channel 6 was available for local video.
“We’re making ourselves more available to the community,” said Bray.
The television channel also runs Placer County Board of Supervisor meetings, although they are not broadcast live, said Bray.
Richard Anderson, who has represented Truckee and eastern Nevada County’s District 5 since first being elected in 2012, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020.
