Truckee utility district discussing new water rates

Sun staff report

TRUCKEE ” The Truckee Donner Public Utility District will hold a public workshop on new Water Rates on Wednesday, June 3.

As mandated by California law, the district began installing water meters last fall and will finish installation for all customers by 2013. The law also requires that the district begin billing based on water usage by next year.

The district is seeking public input on a new rate structure. After reviewing options and public comment, the board will evaluate water rates in September with a goal of adopting new metered rates in November, taking effect in 2010.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. at the Truckee Donner Public Utility District. Contact Steven Poncelet at stevenponcelet@tdpud.org or 582-3951 for more information.
