Truckee utility district GM contract, $11,000 raise approved

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The utility district board voted 4-0 to renew General Manager Michael Holley’s contract, thus increasing his pay by about $11,000 this year and extending the contract five years.
With Wednesday’s vote at the Truckee Donner Public Utility District board meeting, Holley’s salary will increase from $188,100 to $199,386. Newly appointed board member Tony Laliotis abstained from the vote.
and#8220;(Laliotis) was very complimentary of Michael (Holley) but said he wasn’t privy to any of the performance reviews and didn’t feel he was in a position to make the decision,and#8221; said Steven Poncelet, public information and conservation manager for the district.
Poncelet said the board discussed the value in investing in Holley’s performance.
Board president Jeff Bender said it took a lot of work for the board to come to this decision.
and#8220;This item represents the culmination of weeks and many hours of difficult work trying to balance the stability of the district and other factors with the current economy,and#8221; Bender said Thursday in a phone interview.
