Truckee utility district looking to fill seat formerly filled by Pat Sutton

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Donner Public Utility District will appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of former trustee Patt Suttonand#8217;s term.

Sutton, 79, died Jan. 30, of cancer. Her term expires in November, and the board voted 3-0 (Joe Aguera was absent) on Wednesday to appoint someone to fill her seat, said Steven Poncelet, public information and conservation manager for the district.

The district will start advertising the position looking for applicants, he said, with a deadline of March 1.

According to staff reports, the candidates will be briefed on March 4, then a special board meeting to interview and appoint a candidate will be held on March 9.

That person would then have to run for election again in November if he or she wanted to continue, Poncelet said.

Applications, including a resume and cover letter, go to Barbara Cahill, deputy district clerk, at P.O. Box 309, Truckee, Ca 96160.

The board also adopted a resolution, naming the districtand#8217;s new demonstration garden, which is designed to use less water than a normal garden, the Patricia S. Sutton Conservation Garden, Poncelet said.
