Truckee volleyball destroying the opposition

The Truckee High volleyball team swept a pair of home matches against Yerington and Dayton this past weekend to remain undefeated in Northern 3A league play.

Truckee is now 5-0 in league and 22-3 overall.

“They’re looking great,” Nicole Annaloro, Truckee’s head coach, said of her team. “They’re coming out strong and keeping a consistent pace throughout matches.”



The Wolverines defeated Yerington, the defending Northern 3A champs, in four games, 25-17, 11-25, 25-19, 25-23, on Friday. The win marked the second victory of the season over the Lions, as the Wolverines won 25-15, 25-20 in the season-opening Lowry Tournament on Aug. 24-25.

Senior setter Megan Murphy posted a team-high 33 assists. Junior Callan Finney collected 18 kills, while Nikki Schneider had 13 kills and Melanie Lashbrook eight kills. Lashbrook also had four blocks.



The following day Truckee defeated Dayton 25-9, 25-13, 25-18.

Finney had nine kills and two service aces, Lashbrook had seven kills and Alexa Terrell had seven kills, four aces and two blocks. Murphy accumulated 21 assists.

The Wolverines have won five straight matches since going 5-3 in the Galena Tournament on Sept. 7-8.
