Truckee volleyball still unbeaten in 3A

Staff reports

The Truckee High volleyball team continued its dominance over the Northern 3A with wins over Dayton and Yerington on Friday and Saturday.

Truckee is now 12-0 in league and 30-3 overall with two matches remaining.

The Wolverines defeated second-place Yerington in three games, 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.

Nicole Annaloro, Truckee’s head coach, said the Lions matched the Wolverines point for point for much of the first game. Truckee pulled away at the end, and carried its momentum into the second game.

Yerington, which is the only league team to force a fourth game against Truckee (back on Sept. 21), would not go easy in Game 3.

“They had the lead for most of the game, and at one point had a 6-point lead,” Annaloro said.

But Truckee stepped up in the end and ran away with the game.

“It was good for the girls,” Annaloro said of the competitive match. “We needed to be in a pressure situation like that. It gets us prepared for playoffs in two weeks.”

Senior Megan Murphy had 25 assists and three service aces, Nikki Schneider had 11 kills, Callan Finney nine kills, 13 digs and three aces, and Kaylee Waters 28 digs and one ace.

“Overall, it was a fantastic match ” very high intensity” Annaloro said.

The Wolverines defeated Dayton 25-15, 25-9, 25-23.

Murphy had 20 assists and two aces, Schneider had seven kills, Michelle Hoehn six kills and Alexa Terrell three kills, five aces and three blocks.
