Two DUIs in Truckee result in injuries
TRUCKEE ” Two alcohol-related auto accidents in Truckee ended in injuries last week.
First on Thursday, April 23, at about 6 p.m., John Stone, 49 of Truckee, rear-ened another vehicle westbound on Glenshire Drive, knocking both vehicles off the roadway, according to a Truckee Police press release.
Stone allegedly tried to leave the scene on foot, but was detained by the other driver, and was arrested on a charge of felony driving under the influence causing injury.
Stone and the two occupants of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries at Tahoe Forest Hospital.
Then on Friday, April 24, at about 3:15 a.m., a 15-year-old Reno girl allegedly took her mother’s car without permission and drove off Rocky Lane down the hillside, colliding with a pine tree, which fell on the vehicle, totalling it, according to the report. A Truckee girl was a passenger in the vehicle.
Police determined both girls to allegedly be intoxicated, and after being treated at Tahoe Forest Hospital, the driver was arrested on charges of felony driving under the influence and being an unlicensed driver.
