Two Truckee students arrested for hate crime

TRUCKEE “-Two Truckee High School students were arrested on Oct. 23 for a hate crime committed on a school bus.
Sgt. Jason Litchie of the Truckee Police Department confirmed two males were arrested for harassing another male student who is afflicted with a handicap.
The harassment did not cause physical injury to the disabled students.
Litchie said the males were aware the student was disabled, qualifying them for a hate crime charge.
Truckee High School Vice Principal Grant Steunenberg confirmed the school is aware of the harassment but said it was a confidential matter and could not comment further on the case.
Litchie said the two boys were arrested and released to their parents on the same day with a citation for the hate crime.
