Under-construction condo burns to the ground

A late night fire burned a four-unit townhome that was under construction in Tahoe Donner early Thursday morning.The Truckee Fire Protection District received a report of a structure fire at 12:23 a.m. at 11352 Northwoods Blvd. When the first unit arrived roughly five minutes later, the structure was completely engulfed in flames, fire officials said.

Approximately 30 trees surrounding the structure were severely damaged, but no surrounding structures were threatened by the fire and no one was injured, according to Chuck Thomas of the Truckee fire protection district.The building was totally destroyed, Thomas said.

Truckee Fire Marshall Bob Bena will investigate the scene of the fire to determine if arson is involved.Truckee contractor Douglas C. Wallway of Adlerhaus Construction was building the fourplex.
