Unsettled weather moves into region

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” The work week will start off on a warm, and perhaps a bit unsettled, note as a moist flow from the southeast moves into our region over the next day or so.

In fact, the National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flash flood watch for Tuesday afternoon and evening for all of the Eastern Sierra from Truckee/Tahoe to Mammoth.

Residents near the burn areas need to pay special attention to the forecasts from the National Weather Service.

For today expect variable amounts of cloud cover and a few showers and thunderstorms to develop by later this afternoon. Thunderstorms may contain brief heavy rain, strong winds and small hail. Winds will be generally light except around any thunderstorms.

Highs today will rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s. For tonight, a few storms may rumble through the night along with a few showers and it will feel rather humid with abundant cloud cover. This will hold temperatures up overnight in the 50s.
