Van Gundy appointed to TDPUD board

Nelson Van Gundy was appointed by the TDPUD board following an open interview process with the candidates, who also included Mary Davis, Michael Farquhar, John Fraser, Lin Zucconi and Patrick McDonough on Wednesday, June 7.

“Van Gundy’s appointment to the board was unanimous,” said Ron Hemig, TDPUD board member. “However, TDPUD board members were very impressed with the qualifications of all the candidates.”

“In the final analysis,” continued Hemig, “I believe the differences were Nelson’s long-term involvement in community affairs, as well as his proven leadership abilities in Truckee clubs, organizations and agencies. I encourage the other candidates to continue pursuing leadership positions in Truckee”

Van Gundy, who was sworn in that night, will replace board member Bob Jones, who retired after serving on the board for eight years.

“There are some interesting challenges facing the whole Truckee area and the PUD has already shown a proactive stance in these potentials,” said Van Gundy. “Just the fact that the PUD is investigating telecommunications shows it’s proactive.”

Van Gundy has lived in Truckee since 1980.

He is a local realtor and past president of the Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors.
