Vehicle burglary suspects arrested

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested four suspects who they believe are responsible for a rash of vehicle burglaries in Kings Beach on Sept. 19.

Police arrested Graham Dupar, 19, Jacob Strand, 19, Samuel Sturges, 20 and a 17-year-old juvenile all from Granite Bay, Calif., after they received numerous calls from Kingswood Estate’s residents reporting suspicious activity in the area.

Two of the suspects allegedly attempted to flee from officers on foot, but were caught and arrested, said Detective Rick Wroobel of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

The remaining two suspects were located and arrested upon returning to their vehicle later that day, which they had left parked in the Kingswood area, Wroobel said.

The stolen goods were valued at approximately $3,000 and were taken during the night from several unlocked vehicles, Wroobel said.

“We have a problem with burglarized vehicles every year,” Wroobel said. “So many residents leave their cars unlocked because it’s Tahoe, but it just takes that one time and unfortunately they have to learn the hard way.”

The juvenile has been turned over to a juvenile probation officer and the three adults are being charged with burglary, prowling, resisting a peace officer, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and petty and grand theft, Wroobel said.

The suspects recently moved to Kings Beach and were planning to spend the winter season in Tahoe. The three adults have posted bail and will appear in court, Wroobel said.
