Villas timeshares receive go-ahead

The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a plan for six timeshares in Homewood, ending a long and laborious journey for the West Shore development.

The county vote was unanimous, according to county spokesman Robert Miller.

Most of the controversial elements of the plan were ironed out in two marathon Tahoe Regional Planning Agency meetings, where the development proposal was eventually downsized from nine to six units.

Nate Topol, the property owner, now has approval to build the timeshares on the lake side of the Highway 89 across from the Homewood Ski Resort.

The approval comes with certain requirements that he alter the position and screening of the nearby boat racks at the marina, and perform other public-access considerations.
