Villas vote delayed by TRPA

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency postponed a vote on the Villas at Harborside timeshare project because of winter weather and road conditions.

“The board really felt they wanted to give all the interested parties a fair chance to give input,” said Jeff Cowen, the TRPA’s community liaison.

Some agency board members had to be teleconferenced into the South Lake Tahoe meeting on Wednesday because Highway 50 south of South Lake Tahoe was closed due to a large mud slide, Cowen said.

The planning agency postponed the Villas at Harborside vote to its March 28 meeting in Kings Beach.

The March 28 date could be pushed back if the agency’s controversial Shorezone plan is debated at that March meeting, said Cowen.

The Villas at Harborside is a proposal to build nine timeshares along Lake Tahoe in Homewood. The project has the backing of some West Shore businesses, as well as sturdy opposition from a local group called “Friends of the West Shore.”
