Visiting worker turns on another

Truckee police officers were called to the scene of an attempted homicide last week at the Inn at Truckee on Deerfield Drive.

A group of co-workers were staying at the hotel Wednesday for a road project in Truckee when two of the men became involved in a skirmish that was broken up by the other members of the crew, according to a report by the Truckee Police Department.

Later that night, one of the men entered his adversary’s room, authorities stated. Pedro Yanez, 26, of Sacramento is suspected of using a knife with a 5-inch blade to stab the victim in the back. Police said the other co-workers tackled Yanez and disarmed him.

The victim was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital and was in stable condition.

Yanez was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and booked into the Nevada County Jail without bail, according to the police report.
