Volunteer Corner: Mitch Clarin

What kind of volunteer work do you do? I just finished as chairman of the Tahoe Donner Architectural Standards committee. I’m the current president of Truckee Noon Rotary. I’ve been a board member at CATT for 10 years and counting. I was treasurer for the Board of Realtors and I was on the board for the Truckee Downtown Merchants Association.

Why do you volunteer? ‘Cause I like to give back to the community that has given me so much. I love Truckee.

How many hours a week do you spend doing work as Rotary president? If you include the lunch meeting itself, I’d say it’s four to five hours a week. When I was producing The Follies that gears up, a few hours of personal time a day.

What’s the best part about living in Truckee? Truckee is the best part about living in Truckee. As a whole combined it just makes it this awesome place ” the environment, the people, the surroundings, the friendliness, the trees.

How long have you lived in Truckee? Just about 18 years.

What’s a little known fact about you people don’t already know? I would say Friday the 15th of September will be 28 months of sobriety, and I would put that down as the best decision I ever made.
