SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” More warm, summer-like weather is in store for today, although with one small twist to the forecast.

Expect partly cloudy skies today with a remote chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

The chance is small, but the steering flow aloft does turn around to the southeast for a time today and that will allow the storms to make a run for our area if they can get here before the westerly winds pick up at ridge-top level and shift the storms back into Nevada.

High temperatures today will warm once again into the 80s with near 90 possible in the valleys of Alpine County.

That is also where the best chance for storms will be in our area today.

For tonight, a little bit of elevated instability will produce some cloudiness and the small possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm.

It will be very warm though with lows only dropping into the 50s to possibly near 60 in the warmer locations.

Overall the likelihood of seeing any rain is rather low but this will be the best chance of seeing some precipitation in over a month.

Keep the umbrella around just in case and have a great day.
