Washoe commissioners endorse wind utility corridor

The Associated Press

RENO, Nev. ” Washoe County commissioners have endorsed creating a utility corridor for wind turbines in the mountains of Warm Springs Valley north of Reno.

Commissioners voted to sponsor an amendment to the regional utility corridor that could allow for the 17-mile power line to get power from 70 turbines proposed by Nevada Wind to a transfer station in Tracy east of Reno.

The amendment would need approval by the Regional Planning Commission and its governing board.
